| Clare Hartigan’s work
is far from stagnant. It moves as life moves through its ever
changing moods. Sometimes abstracting sometimes becoming more
literal.
The ideas for these paintings seem
to come from a constant appreciation for the presence of the divine
that surrounds us, whatever it may be from the seemingly insignificant
to life changing events. Embracing the balance of life there is
also an element of exorcism where demons are faced and expelled
through the creative process.
Movement seems to be prominent
in a lot of the artists work. This probably comes from her growing
up as a child beside the river Shannon experiencing its chaotic
powerful movement.
Clare credits a lot of her foundational
skills to her mother, well known Irish Artist Barbara Hartigan.
Her formal education includes studies at Limerick School of Art
and Design and an intern at Duncan of Jordanstown, Dundee, Scotland.
She has received much recognition for her work through awards,
commissions, the media and exhibitions throughout Ireland.
